Caye Caulker, so magical
We woke up and went had breakfast at the Sea Dreams hotel, which owns or manages our unit. We have free breakfast, water, wifi, and bikes, and get to hang out on their rooftop lounge. Today's breakfast was huevos rancheros. The kids had fruit and yogurt. There is not really any good beach at Caye Caulker but mostly the good beach and snorkeling is at the North end of the split, which is where we are at. Christine bought a mango shake and coconut and we went snorkeling. This was the first time Ellie and Dd have gone snorkeling in the ocean. They loved it. Afterwards we wandered around and found the tarpon feeding docks where there is supposedly one of the largest underwater caverns and tarpon hang out. For $2.50 bzd you could feed the tarpon. Christine and the kids did it. Well, the kids threw their fish but Christine held it above the water and let the tarpon leap to get the fish.
We had lunch at Bamboozle because the kids wanted to sit on swings. They had "crunchy fish", which is deep fried fish, and Christine and I shared popcorn lobster and chips with potato and cheese dip.
The kids want to rent bikes and so we rented a couple for $15 bzd each for 24h and we picked up our free bikes from Sea Dreams Hotel and biked to Iguana Reef Inn where there is a daily evening feeding of sting rays. Both kids ended up touching the rays. They came up to our legs gently and it was so magical. A man had a bucket of small fish bait and Christine was able to get a few fish to feed. Dd did it too and even had a fish stolen by bonefish.
