Great pyramid of Cholula
the Hill that we were camped next to is the great pyramid of Cholula. It is mostly covered with grass and trees, being over 2000 years old, but part of it is excavated.the peaks of Popocatelpetl on the left puffing away and snow on Iztaccihuatl on the right.view of our campspot the night before.Popocatepetl
The next morning we wanted to explore the great pyramid of Cholula which we were parked next to. The gate to the parking lot was locked so we had to wait a few minutes for the workers to arrive to unlock it. We hiked to the top and came back down and walked through the Centro of Cholula where the workers were taking down tents from the independence day long weekend. There were still carnival rides in the square. The kids played on the playground and we walked back to the RV, stopping for some tamales, rambutans, and tried some chapulins, fried grasshoppers, seasoned with lime and salt and chili. We next stopped at a mall to go to grocery shopping at the super chedraui. We then had a six hour day on the road and stopped before sunset at a Pemex rest stop for the night.
