Pyramids of Teotihuacan
It was Mexican Independence Day today so most places were closed. We had light traffic on the road. We missed an opportunity to buy churros from a guy walking through a market area while we were driving through and then regretted it for the rest of the day. Fortunately the pyramids were open. We got something to eat at a stall outside the entrance gate. Christine said the chicken quesadilla without cheese was the best thing she has had so far. The chorizo taco was great too.
The pyramids were impressive. We had been here 10 years ago on our motorcycle trip and it was equally as hot. The volcanic stone absorbs the heat. Unfortunately tourists are no longer allowed to climb the pyramids. We decided to stay at a campsite in the area and bought some chicken and vegetables for soup. The campsite is on someone's private property and it was beautiful. There was a covered area for the kids to do homework until the thunder brought them back to the RV. The three farm dogs hung out by our RV too. There was one other guest, a German couple with a trailer. Soon it began to rain and we stayed in for the night.
