to the hot springs

I slept great at the truck stop. It was nice and cool and we didn't need the ac on all night for the first time all week. I was able to dump our toilet cassette in the rest area toilet without raising eyebrows. We dumped our gray water too. It was going to be a long day in the saddle again.
We wanted to make it or close to the Grutas de Tolantongo, a hot springs area with camping and a cave, and cascading hot tubs on the cliff.  There would be no RV facilities there so we needed enough water to last us a couple nights. We stopped for breakfast at San Maria del Rio, a small town with a gas station at a pull out. Kids did not like the quesadillas but we did get them churros from Burger King (I know). I had a super burrito with pork. Christine had a sope, which is a stuffed pita with corn tortilla instead. She had beef in hers.
We stopped on the side of the highway for some cactus fruit called tuna. It was $2.50 for a small bushel. I only wanted a couple but they said no.
As we approached the Grutas, we picked up some roasted chicken, fruits, and fresh water in Ixmiquipan.
In Mexico, purified water is available in every town and it is relatively inexpensive. Our RV requires a garden hose thread and 30 psi of water pressure to fill, but many water stations, agua purificadora, only fill 5 gallon plastic bottles, but don't have garden hose thread compatible connections. We went to 4 different places until we found one that was open and with a threaded connection, which wasn't garden hose compatible but I had ordered Gardena plastic garden hose quick connect adapters that fit ok to the PVC and I was able to fill up. It's a big victory whenever I am able to use some of the "what if" tools I brought along.  We made it to the Grutas before sunset and found a flat even spot. This place is busy as it is a holiday weekend. More photos to come when we explore tomorrow. Dinner was delicious.
