Val'Quierco
This morning departure was delayed by skylight troubles. It would not latch shut completely but after searching the Facebook group for Hymer Aktiv Owners and Wannabees, I was able to figure out the problem. I also checked the fluid levels and set the starlink to turn off automatic snowmelt which had turned on the night before during the rain. I am not sure why since it was nowhere near freezing. The kids did homeschool and played with the three dogs. There was an agua purificadora close to the rancho but instead of waiting another 20 minutes we decided to fill up later at our destination. When driving I am most comfortable when the gas tank is full, cassette toilet is empty, and gray water is empty. But driving with full fresh water means driving with an extra 250 lbs or so. We are already at 9500 lbs when fully loaded. Driving uphill on highways is always a challenge since the passing lane is smoother than the right hand lane. We tend to be in 5th gear much of the time.
Our midday stop was for the fake Italian town of Val'Quierco. A developer fell in love with Tuscany and tried to create a Tuscan village near Puebla. There is a housing development near it with lots for sale and apartments for sale in the village above the stores. It really looks impressive and of course we had some Neapolitan pizza and Christine had some steak. There are not a lot of choice RV camp spots on iOverlander on our route. We thought about driving for a couple hours but decided to get some chores down. Water and laundry. Driving in the large towns is a pain with lots of stop signs which are not always followed and many speed bumps, called ropes, which are not always marked and the RV suspension is not that great when fully loaded for hitting the speed bumps nonstop. I was able to fill up water and find the coin op laundry and spent the hour with the girls getting their nails done and Dd played in a playground at a Japanese restaurant. We ended up having dinner there too. That was literally 5 hours to get done mostly because of traffic. Our campsite was below the pyramid of Cholula and it's church on top. We parked in a gated parking lot for the night for $10.
