Jaco
Since we arrived to Jaco last night we really didn't have time to look around. It is the closest popular beach town to the capital San Jose and one of the busiest but it is still low season because of the rain. The beach is wide but there are a lot of pebbles and stones in the sand that make it not very pleasant to walk. We also walked around on the main drag to see the plethora of tourist shops and travel agencies and ATV rentals. We ended up going to a skate park and let the kids scooter around.
Today we planned on camping an hour and a half south at Manuel Antonio, the busiest national park in Costa Rica. We stopped to fill up water at a free community spigot on ioverlander. We stopped for some more frozen sweet treats in Quepos. This is a Churchill, a bigger brother of a copa, that includes a scoop of ice cream on top. This was the same price as the two copas we had at Lake Arenal
We tried to find dumplings for the kids and struck out at three Chinese restaurants in town but found a Korean restaurant at a hotel in Manuel Antonio with a great view. The hotel was once owned by the bassist for Creed, but now owned by a Korean American from Massachusetts. The view was fantastic and the food was great but pricey ($100). We had some dumplings and noodles and rice.
The town of Manuel Antonio is half perched on a steep hill that Cascades down to a gorgeous curved beach. It is next to a national park of the same name. Some people go to see animals but mostly you see humans. Many people go for the beach.
