Price Smart, San Salvador
We had planned on heading to the Honduran border but Google maps led us astray and a bypass around La Libertad ended up taking us all the way up to the capital of San Salvador. Growing up in San Diego, we shopped at Price club before it merged with Costco. The owners of Price Club started a similar membership bulk shopping store in Latin America. For $45, we too became members.
There were Kirkland branded items there. We bought $100 in groceries and ate at the food court for $25. You win some, you win some.
The fried chicken, popular in Guatemala and El Salvador, was very good. Better than KFC, but not as good as Publix fried chicken.
The pizza was less greasy than Costco.
The burger and hot dog came with fries which were good. And they serve Coca cola products instead of Pepsi.
It was too late to cross the border to Honduras so we headed toward the coast close to the border and camped at a beach parking lot for free.
The kids found spears on the beach and washed up trees from storms and Dd began a beach clean up and they both made a big pile of trash.
Dinner was pasta with some sausages we found at Price Smart.
A quinceañera, 15th birthday party for a girl was happening nearby and fireworks were launched and bass booming music kept the RV buzzing. The booming finally stopped around 830 but then a car pulled up next to us with their own music. Fortunately the AC drowned out their music. We will go to Honduras tomorrow.
