RV repair delays
I took the RV to the mechanic and hung around for a couple hours hoping they would get done in time. There I met an American who had moved to the area two years ago. She escaped communist Hungary in 1984 with her son and daughter when she was 32 and emigrated to Illinois. She told me the average income was around $80/month and her rent for a 3 bedroom 2 bath was $500/month. Her electric bill was only $10 with her AC on. She also has two masters degree and a PhD.
Turns out the job was harder than Marcos expected and he also noticed my front brakes were glazed from Costa Rican hills and recommended swapping them for ceramic brakes. I tried to Uber back the campground but the Uber driver in David was not getting closer so I took a bus for $1.50. The ride was only 40 minutes but I had been waiting about 50 minutes.
Back at the campground we had lunch and I finished their breakfast of tortilla and steak and onions. The tortilla was a thick crunchy bread made of massa.
The kids had chicken strips which they devoured ($5) and Christine had a salad. I checked in on Marco but he said the job was taking longer than he expected because of my 3 inch lift. He also noticed my serpentine belt was cracking. I had a spare but would need to get back to the RV to retrieve it. As it was getting late he said he could wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow we were supposed to be headed to Panama city. We would need to get a room at the campground ($77) and get some toothpaste and toothbrushes and overnight clothes. We ended walking around town looking for stuff for Christine and the kids. I was fine in my clothes.
We had dinner at the Panda restaurant again. Dumplings for the kids and wonton soup for Christine and beef and mustard green and rice for us to share. We watched some garbage TV and walked back to the campground. We all miss the RV but this is hardly roughing it although my family might disagree. Tomorrow hopefully the RV is put back together correctly.
