Cartagena day 4: evening carriage ride

More homeschool today. I watched fisherman haul in a net of fish from the beach. Not much fish to be gained from such a huge net and they do it again and again. Easier than casting but I am guessing it's not very sustainable.
Christine finally baked butter mochi cake today. We had been carrying a box of glutinous rice powder since San Diego and yesterday we went to the mall to buy the rest of the ingredients. It was delicious and oddly gluten free despite the name.
We made it to the pool. It has not been hot here so we used the hot tub which ended up being too hot. We met a couple of Americans in the hot tub. One man from Austin but with sort of a family or a girlfriend here and an adopted 4 year old child and he flies back and forth from Austin every 2 months until he can get a visa for all of them. A digital nomad couple, one from Ukraine and the other from Miami that just arrived 3 days ago and plan on staying for a month.
We had dinner at Parrilla del Savor, the grill place we ate on the first night. We had the same drinks and steak this time with grilled shrimp and a appetizer of plantain with cheese ($38).
Christine wanted to take a carriage ride and some of the carriages are stored behind our Airbnb so when a carriage passed us as we exited the restaurant, I hailed him down. We took a ride to the old city and a 30 minute tour for $25. It was beautiful and charming and I unexpectedly loved it. Rappers tried to rap to us, but I ignored them. We walked around and Dd got tired and we ubered back to the Airbnb.
