The RV arrives!
My shipping agent asked me to show up at the port at 830am. There I was given an orange vest, hardhat, and entry badge and met two Chinese men waiting to open their container with their GMC Yukon and Tahoe. They shipped on the same boat from Panama City. They were a team of 7 with four vehicles purchased and fitted in Winnipeg and they drove up to Coldfoot, Alaska and down to Panama. They were splitting up soon with some headed to Peru and one of them going to Chile. They had traveled extensively and been to Antarctica several times and passed through Bolivia four times, Africa at least six times, and ten hunting trips to the Yukon. They showed me their off road car collection back home including new Land cruiser and Jeep. My cousin looked them up and it turns out they operate a tour group for customized travel and had the first Chinese tour to the arctic and antarctic. The link is here.
We entered the port area and they unlocked the other guy's container and then worked on getting my RV off the flat rack. Of course the RV looked fine and inside too. We were told to take the heavy straps back to my shipping agent and drop them off. The vehicles would stay but I was told to take photos of all four sides and the vin and license plate and email to my shipping agent. After that, we were done. I exchanged info with the Chinese guys and went back to the condo.
The family was headed to the pool and I joined them. The view was great and the water was cool. This condo was actually busy and the pool had a lot of guests compared to our last condo in Cartagena.
We went upstairs to have leftover lunch and then I received a text to meet the agent outside the customs office DIAN to sign some paperwork. While I was there I received a copy of my SOAT, car insurance. After signing, I was told I should wait for an email for a time of driving the RV out of the port possibly tomorrow. I went back to the condo and joined the family by the pool. Dd felt sick and went upstairs and vomited. This was the first time the kids had been sick since the trip started. Of course yesterday they played with a bunch of kids and some kids on the plane so the exposure could have been anything. We stayed in for the night and Dd passed out after taking some zofran. I went to a Chinese restaurant a couple blocks away and went to the supermarket for some soda and crackers.
