Waiting out the blockade at a rest stop
It rained last night and it cooled the weather down and we slept well in the RV. In the morning no semi trucks had left and more were pulling in so needless to say the blockade was still in place. We were able to fill up water from their water bib and I filtered it. I dumped the cassette and gray water and moved the van two stalls over. Last night one of the window shade screens broke a string and I took two hours to fix it. I didn't have an embroidery needle so I had to thread the string on one side through each fold of mesh and tied it to the broken string to pull it through the other side.
I fixed a interior panel than kept falling over by screwing the Velcro pad in place. I replaced a cabinet latch that had broken. The kids kicked a ball around on the dirt lot. They explored on a dirt hill and found some crystals. They slingshot whirlybird toys in the air and watched them whistle back down. They rollerbladed on the concrete pad. Christine ate a burger and the kids had quesadillas for lunch. For dinner we had a chicken bandejo and a steak bandejo and a soursop juice and a strawberry juice ($12.50).
Having steak everyday is pretty great. Sometimes the quality is good and sometimes it's ok. When it's ok it would probably be better in a taco. Their homemade hot sauce is awesome. Hotter than the one at the Parrilla al sabor in Cartagena. They had yuca fries and provided pineapple "salsa", or jam in a squeeze bottle and it was like having a gluten free churro.

Periodically truckers would give us advice on what to see in Colombia. They were all very friendly.
It has been a surprisingly enjoyable period waiting for the blockade because we have had so many interactions with others. Google translate helps a lot. The French family we met getting our RV back at the port went toward Medellin because of the blockades and seems to have had met no resistance. If this blockade doesn't open tomorrow we will go back the way we came and head to Medellin.
