World school meet up Telemedellin park
Today the shipping agent informed me I would need to be in Cartagena tomorrow morning for unloading of the RV so we booked a flight back to Cartagena in the evening and an airbnb. We had planned on possibly attending a weekly meet up in the Telemedellin park of world schoolers in Medellin at 1030am. Christine had reached out to a world schooling Facebook page and a nice person invited us to their meet up. We met so many expats living in Medellin and homeschooling their kids. Medellin is one of the top places for digital nomad, and it makes sense those nomads with kids would need to have playdates. The kids had a wonderful time climbing on a weird wall. Behind the wall was the Telemedellin news studio and we watched them shooting a segment.
We met Janice a marine biologist who had been on the road for the last four years in Europe for two years, based out of France and then. Egypt and Colombia and South Africa and back to Colombia. They had an old RV they were trying to sell in Chile and planned on flying back to Chile and Argentina in four months. Their daughter was able to attend gymnastics competitions in Medellin while they were there.
We skipped lunch because the kids were having such a good time and took an Uber to the airport with a stop to pick up our luggage from the apartment.
At the airport we partook in the priority lounge and then went to the gate. It was a short flight, only 50 minutes long.
We ended up booking the morros city condo on Airbnb. The family we met last week in Cartagena stayed there and it was more touristy than the area we had stayed at last week. The unit was beautiful and of course it cost a bit more.
We quickly dropped off our luggage and walked to the supermarket 3 blocks away. The area had a lot of restaurants and tourist shops. We bought some food at the supermarket but ended up stopping at an Italian restaurant on the way home.
Dd wanted pizza and Ellie wanted KFC but settled for steak. We had two steak and a pizza and 3 drinks ($65).
Back at the hotel we unpacked and went to bed late. Tomorrow morning I will go to the port to unload to the RV from the flat rack. I won't get to drive the RV away but it is the first step to get a temporary import permit.
