Parque Tematico San Jose
A great night of sleep in the municipal parking lot. We headed off on the road toward Jardin, almost six hours away. First we needed to stop at a trampoline rest stop we had seen on our drive in two days ago. Dd was still disappointed that he wasn't able to do it yesterday.
We stopped at Parque Tematico San Jose, which turned out to be great. The trampoline was not open but there were llamas roaming around. There were cups of carrots to buy and baby bottles with liquid for the carp in a pool. There were horses and ponies, goats, sheep, pigs, and ostrich. We bought some sugar cane juice and a oblejas.
We then hit the road stopping at a Terpel gas station to fill up on gas and water and dump the cassette and gray water. I used the same gas station as two days ago. Christine made the dumplings we bought from Price Smart and they were great. We may have to stop by at another price smart to buy some more for the kids.
It was a long drive but the section through Medellin was short. We made it to Jardin an hour before sunset and parked at a hostel for $4.50 a night.
Jardin was gorgeous. It had whitewashed walls with colorful doors and windows and balconies. There were a surprising amount for tourists here, but only a few foreigners. We found a nice restaurant with pizza and ordered some delicious non alcoholic drinks: watermelon soda, lychee soda, lemonade with Jamaica, and a soda with orange and passion fruit. We also had a pepperoni pizza and a bean mushroom casserole for $30.
