Back to Quito

We had a 430am wake up to leave our luggage outside the cabin. Five o'clock was breakfast and it started to rain hard. The guests all looked at each other as well as the guides and we just laughed. We were told to bring the rubber boots and ponchos from the lodge but we all left the boots rather than carry an extra pair of foot wear. Breakfast was good and we donned the ponchos and got on the canoes and it was a quick paddle to the shore and the sky lightened. We made it to the Napo river and left the life jackets and got on the motor boat. The family from Houston and Scott the Canadian veterinarian and us all had conversation. Scott has property in Ecuador on the coast and invited us to stay. He also has a place in Cabo San Lucas and one in Medellin and has a cabin three hours north of Toronto, and a home in Toronto. The Houstonian family has two kids in grad school, USC for data management and UT Austin for immunology. Their father is Gi doc.

We were all staying in Quito but only Scott and us were staying near the airport. We booked a less expensive family owned place which was $40 before taxes but $65 after taxes. Fortunately we were able to check in relatively early and drop off laundry for $5. We walked next door for lunch at a grill place and had a mixed grill plate and a sausage plate. The food was good and cheap $13 for both and a jar of lemonade. The kids happily fed the dogs the leftovers. We went back to the hotel and hung out in the small room with three beds. The kids did homeschool and recess was feeding the rabbits watching the alpaca, ducks, geese, chicken, dog, and cat. Unfortunately the indoor pool was closed.
We had lunch nextdoor in the opposite direction and the kids shared a burger with a dog and I had wings which were delicious. I cannot remember the last time I had an order of chicken wings. Christine had a chicken plate. $21 for the meal. We have an early flight tomorrow to the Galapagos.
