Carlos the mechanic
We headed off after breakfast and checked out of the hotel. Traffic in Lima is expectedly bad and it took about 90 minutes to get to the mechanic's shop about an hour east of Lima. There were 16 overlanding vehicles in his yard, mostly French. We spent the next few hours trying to plan out flights and bus/train and hotels for today and tomorrow. I left the keys with Carlos and he would report back on his findings when he got around to it.
We took a 90 minutes nauseating Uber ride to the Holiday Inn at the airport which cost around $25. The holiday inn was welcoming and we went downstairs for dinner. They said the kids meals were free which includes drinks entree and dessert. Bread and chips were complimentary. Christine had beef bourguignon and I had beef lomo saltado. The kids had a pizza and chicken strips. The meal came to $36.
Carlos texted that at first glance the CV axles appear to be the same as the Peugeot boxer which is available in Lima. He would know more when he took it apart tomorrow.
