Driving down to Chancay
Another great sleep at a gas station. We hit the road after breakfast we went to another Tottus for some a reward for Dd leveling up in his schoolwork. He chose a Transformers toy and so did Ellie. The road was great and we passed massive sand dunes and the coast and more plantations. We stopped for lunch at noon and had a plate of ceviche de pato, a braised duck, and pollo frito. Both came with an iced tea and soup. Not bad for $5.
We tried to fill up water at a few places but either the faucet did not have threads for our hose or the water was shut off.
We made it to Chancay and the Sunset Hostal but when I knocked on the door and asked about camping the girl replied no. I texted them on Whatsapp and started looking for alternatives and fortunately the proprietor replied back that yes they had space for us. We pulled in.
The hotel was fantastic with a view of the water and a pool and a kiddie pool and trampoline and large chess board. There was karaoke and a bbq pit. All that for $10. And they had water for me to fill up my tank. The proprietor, Jenny, spoke excellent English and her daughter lived in the states.
We ate dinner and then the kids played with the other kids there, Bernice and Gael, who invited them to roast marshmallows.
