Galapagos Black Turtle Cove
We had a 6am dinghy ride to explore Black Turtle Cove before breakfast and disembarkation. We decided not to wake the kids and left them on the boat while for this excursions and let them sleep in.
This shallow mangrove cove had very clear visibility and there were lots of baby white tipped shark, and mating sea turtles and eagle rays and a lobster and a marble ray. The pelicans were gobbling up the fish too. The Galapagos islands are never boring.
Back on board, Ellie and Dd were upset Ellie had awaken all alone and changed clothes and found Dd and woke him up to tell him we had left. She has gone upstairs and asked about us and the crew told her we were out. Maybe we should have warned them last night.
We had breakfast and feelings were better. It was a bit rushed for us because we had to finish packing. We said goodbyes to everyone. The night before Yazmany had created a WhatsApp group to share photos and videos and they were great. We motored to the pier and boarded a bus to the airport a few minutes away. We checked into an the priority pass lounge and enjoyed the peace there until almost an hour later when it filled up.
As we were leaving we ran into Richie and Lauren and their kids just entering. Their flight was almost ready to board but they went in to grab a quick bite. We exchanged notes and maybe we would share dinner in Quito at the airport.
They arrived in Quito a few minutes before we did and waited at the luggage carousel for us and we decided to eat the food court across the street.
It was nice and sunny and we sat on the balcony and ordered a bunch of different foods from the food court. We compared our times in the Galapagos. They also went to Bartolome island and saw the penguin and snorkelled. We had to make it back to CoDa Vista and they had to go to their Airbnb so once again we said our goodbyes for the fifth or sixth time and took separate taxis and Ubers.
We made it back to the RV and Andy and the dogs greeted us at the door. I parked the RV up on the gravel and filled up water and we caught up on the last two weeks. Coffee needed another surgery. I looked at X-rays and he had a left femoral neck fracture and I didn't see any visible hardware and now had an effusion and probably dislocated hip.
It was cold and we went in the RV and unpacked and took showered and it was great to be back in the RV.
