Guamote Thursday market

We had a peaceful night of sleep and it was a little cold. Today was market day in Guamote so we strolled up to the market area. Most of the locals were dressed with tidy heavy shawls and neat fedoras. They had dark faces and kids had rosy cheeks. Most things cost $1. We bought some food, potato's, plantains, and pork for $3. We bought some garlic, green beans, avocado, bananas and some plums. We spent $5.
We had about 4 hours of driving to do, so we hit the road which was mountainous with ups and downs and beautiful views of the valley. Often we were in the clouds.
As we passed the last of the switchbacks we saw over cast skies and rain started in the last 30 minutes. We headed toward a Chinese restaurant with dumplings and had to look around 3 times to find parking. There was electric wiring above the gate that we would have torn off if I had not seen it at the last second.
The menu was good and the food was ok, a little too oily, but pickings for this type of Chinese food is slim. Most of the Chinese restaurants are "chifa" which is Latin Americanized Chinese food. The kids wanted dumplings. $40 later we had left overs for a couple days. Dd was excited to have baozi.
We walked to a boba place close by but they only had chai and matcha flavors so we went to a park for the kids to play. There were fastwalkers and joggers on the track. The kids played on the exercise equipment.
They went to the mall to find boba and we went to drive around to find somewhere to camp for the night near the old city center. Three u turns later we were parked in a cul de sac next to an Argentinian campervan.
