Miraflores
It is decidedly different from the Peruvian coast here in Miraflores, the upscale neighborhood of Lima. Dd was better but still had fever today. Ellie has stuffy nose and cough as does Christine but both are on the mend.
The hotel had buffet breakfast which Christine and the kids love, even though they don't eat very much. They like the idea of the choices. I went to do laundry and the bedding, which when living in an RV, is a bigger deal than it should be. The laundromat served the expats of all nations living in Miraflores and the prices reflect that. It was $25 for 25 lbs of laundry. In Ecuador we paid half that amount. We went out and walked around and found a Korean "restaurant". It was one of those places that sells packages of ramen and snacks and then have a menu of the ramen packs cooked. We had some bulgogi bimbap (Korean sushi), mandus (Korean potstickers), and jianjiang ramen, and a milki drink. It was around $20 for this meal. We then went to get some boba tea and it was delicious and walked around Kennedy Park which is full of cats who are taken care of with cat homes and dishes of food and water. There are signs asking people to adopt a cat and fines for abandoning your pet there. Wikipedia informed me that in the 1990s the park was plagued by rats and cats were brought there by neighbors to combat the problem. There was an empty cat cafe a few blocks away. There was a chic boutique store for pet collars and harnesses. This was a really nice area and there was a playground for kids. We went back to the hotel for a little while and used our free welcome drink coupons for some juices and Inka cola.
For dinner we went to the San Isidoro area close by and Christine had a gluten free wrap and the kids and I shared a couple pizzas.
We took an Uber back to the hotel.
All day I searched and contacted people on Whatsapp about getting a CV axle replaced. Tomorrow we will check out of the hotel and drive an hour east of Lima to find a garage well regarded by ioverlander and Facebook groups in the 4x4 repair community in Lima to see what he recommends.
