Cusco day 2
It was raining this morning so the kids did homeschool after breakfast. Dd was feeling better so we booked another night in Cusco. When the rain stopped we headed down to the square and went into a shop. Christine was looking for a llama Christmas tree ornament and Dd wanted a Peruvian knit hat. Ellie didn't like the hats.
We walked toward the San Pedro market. This is the food market when you can buy fruits vegetables and meats but also has juice and food stalls. Now it has a sizeable tourist section. We bought a couple glasses of juice for $2 each. They were orange and papaya and the other was passion fruit and pineapple. Ellie is not a fan of dirty crowded places and wanted to go back to the hotel.
We found a Chinese restaurant in the San Blas blas area that was pretty overpriced but the kids ate a lot. We had some lo mein, chicken wings, dumplings, and sui mai. This came to $55.
The sun came out and there was a marching band playing from the main plaza. We headed down and caught up to the procession. I think it was for the corpus Christi festival. There had been fireworks going off all day. We walked around the square and the little alley ways. The kids played red light green light with local kids in the main square.
After the sun set we went to a local restaurant with gluten free pasta for Christine. It was great. We had salad, pasta Bolognese and carbonara. It came to $50.
We headed back to the hotel and got ready for bed.
