Driving to Tupiza

We slept nice and warm. In the morning the gas station where I was planning on filling up water had a long queue for gas and locals with gas cans were sitting where the spigot was. Fortunately the park had a spigot too and so I parked close enough to reach it. The pressure was very low so it took a while to fill. The kids rode their scooters around. When the gas station finally had fuel delivered the cars filled up and the landcruisers filled their Jerry cans too.
We went back to the town center and exchanged some more usd to Bolivianos, taking advantage of the exchange rate and hoped to exchange them for Argentinian pesos in a couple days. We also bought some breads, milk, and some street food: empanadas, papa rellanos, and some terrible alfajores. Christine tried some jello cream. We drove to the Chinese restaurant again and orders some dumplings to go and the dumped the toilet. The lady asked for 2 Bolivianos instead of one because of the cassette. She did not seem too pleased. I don't blame her.
We headed out of town for the three hour drive to Tupiza. The scenery was like New Mexico or western Texas and then red rocks appeared looking like Sedona, AZ. counterfeit bill Dd found in a puddle
Tupiza is also known for one the places Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid hung out in their last days in South America. They tried to rob a tin baron's mansion, and we were camping at the property it was on.
The town was ok but we didn't stop to get out. It had a nice square and a pretty church. We drove to the camping area and unpacked the table and chairs and dropped off laundry with Mario, the owner. We were just under 10,000 ft elevation and it was warmer than Uyuni.
We had leftovers for dinner and enjoyed the short driving day. Tomorrow we head to the border with Argentina.
