Puerto Inca
We had a great night of sleep. A horse and its foal walked by the van. The horse neighed to its foal and the two trotted off into the orchard. Because of that, Dd wanted his window closed in case the horse tried to come in.
The horse did not come in.
In the morning we filled up water and dumped the cassette and the kids wanted more water crackers so we bought two more and the kids played on the playground and Dd smashed unriped olives he collected from the low lying branches.
We had 8 hours to get to Arequipa so either it would be a long or a short day. The road hugged the coast line and the sand dunes went up to the coast but later changed to rocky coast.
We stopped for lunch and had some ceviche and fried chicken tenders. The lady recommended a beach 5 minutes up the road and there we ended up at Playa Puyenca. Google maps labelled it Playa Inca.
It was a informal camp spot on iOverlander and there were two other overlanders there already, one from Argentina in a truck camper and the other was German in a expedition truck. They had two boys each. We went down to the beach and hung out for a few hours playing on the rocks. The beach was pretty busy and the water was cold but the beach was southwest facing so it was somewhat protected. Christine and the kids saw a whale at the mouth of the small bay.
Another camper with Spanish license plate pulled in and the Germans welcomed their friends.
We had some crackers, salami, and olives as appetizers and the kids went out to play for another hour in the dark and played with the five other boys. We closed the night with some gofish and showers.
