Drake passage day 1
Twenty-five foot waves, wind 33 kts, 27 F temperature. Vomited twice. We were out running a low pressure system with 45 ft swells and one of the ships didn't make it out of the Beagle Channel in time so will wait out storm in the Drake for three days the incoming Captain told us this afternoon.
Last night I woke up at 1 am to terrible rolling and the sound of glass rolling around in the mini bar. Christine got up and stuff towels in the fridge to keep the bottles from sliding. We cleared the breakables off the desk. The waitress said that was probably the worst it has been this season on the Drake.
I got up feeling sick and didn't want to leave the bed. I ended up vomiting up saliva twice. There were some mandatory lectures and activities in preparation for our zodiac excursions but it took everything to get downstairs and back before vomiting. Meanwhile other guests were fine and drank alcohol. Mom and Dad stayed in their beds until 7 pm for dinner. Christine and I tried on our boots and parkas. We hung out in bed sleeping from the scopolamine patch and meclizne and finally zofran to the rescue.
We ordered room service for the kids but they were not feeling good either. I ended up eating the double cheeseburger when they didn't want the rest.
We had sit down dinner but I wasn't very hungry and we spoke to a couple of Taiwanese young guests sitting behind me at dinner.
We went back to the room to get ready for bed in the rocking. A rough day.
