Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum
Mindy and Grimm knocked on our van door to say goodbye before the kids woke up. They wanted to drive 8 hours today and hit the road early. We took some photos with their phone but the photo quality was degraded by the messaging system.
We headed south toward the town of Trelew to take care of laundry and a front end alignment.
It was a short drive 90 minutes long. The laundry could be done in four hours so we dropped it off and we went to the alignment place and they asked us to come back after their siesta at 3pm.
We went to the palentology museum where they had the largest land known land dinosaur fossil. It was a great museum. In 2010 someone noticed a massive fossil bone in the ground at a ranch and it took several years but they excavated a massive dinosaur fossil. This occurred 140 miles west of Trelew.
We spent a couple hours there and then headed to the alignment shop. I wanted to rotate the tires but the shop owner was a cranky old guy and he didn't have time to do it and that was the end of that visit.
The kids and Christine waited for me at a mall.
We went to find a place to camp at a beach 30 minutes away but the winds were 26 knots and sand was blowing everywhere. I cooked dinner and when they came back from the beach we turned on the AC and we could smell something burning and turned it off and then the inverter would not turn back on.I tried to troubleshoot it but decided we should leave this sandstorm and head inland. Fortunately the temperature cooled down when the sun set and we parked at a YPF station just north of town. The inverter came back on but the AC did not seem to work. We had to dust off all the bedding from the beach sand. The gas station had a few other campers and even a rooftop tent camper. Tomorrow we will continue to head south.
