Ferry day 2
Cold night and we woke up to overcast skies. We would be arriving in Villa Puerto Eden, the most isolated town in Chile for a couple hours to disembark passengers and supplies. We had breakfast which was the same ham and cheese sandwich with apple that I grilled in the sandwich maker. The kids did homeschool and played while I did taxes. We stopped for lunch of pasta with Bolognese sauce which the kids and I ate. We arrived at Eden after lunch and everyone watched the action as the ship unloaded a container and pallets and three kayakers. There are no roads or cars there and boats ferry people and supplies around the shore. We ventured to the covered area at the port and there were tables selling tourist home good like knitted neck gaiters and woven baskets and some empanadas. It was in the 40s.
As we headed off I marveled at the life at that town. I read a Japanese sailor's description of the town that worked on a barter system. He arrived looking for eggs and diesel and could not find anyone available to sell him any but he could tinker on engines and slowly repaired a few of the engines the villagers brought to him and they repaid him in fuel and king crabs.
I continued to work on the taxes and the kids played in the playroom until dinner time. It started raining in the afternoon. There was chicken over rice for dinner which was very good too.
After shower the gray water was full and I had to offload some of the gray water into the cassette and dumped it in the toilet. Tomorrow we arrive in Caleta Yungay.
