Asuncion

We had a nice quiet night in San Miguel. In the morning there was a elementary and middle school marching band practicing a block away and they waved when they walked back to their starting places. An older woman greeted the kids and spoke to them in Spanish and the kids replied; the kids have been using Duolingo for a few months.
We had a short drive to Asuncion, the capital, only three hours. We stopped at a Shell station to dump and fill. There was a playground so the kids got out to play.
We headed straight to a Decathlon store at a fancy mall downtown. The prices were a little higher than in Colombia but still okay. The kids had an early dinner at the food court; Pizza Hut for Ellie and Dd had subways ($4 each). Christine had a little sushi. We went to the Cinemark and bought some popcorn and Dd wanted to ride a dinosaur so we paid $5 for 10 minutes which was one lap around the third floor. He was so thrilled. After being in Argentina, Paraguay felt like everything was 1/3 of the price.
We walked to a Chinese restaurant a few blocks away and ordered some dishes. It was mostly a buffet place but the kids would not be eating much. The food was good but missing something. Christine said it was missing MSG and I think she was right. The bill was $45 after tips.
The restaurant opened at 7pm and the sunset was around 615pm so it dark when we finished dinner. We had planned on camping at a hotel parking lot 10 minutes away. It wasn't until after I paid that I realized there was a party going at one of the homes next to our parking lot and it would be a noisy night. It was also warm and stuffy.
The kids watched some TV and we went to bed late with the AC on.
