Balneario Camboriu rainy day 3
Today we had planned on doing some laundry and finding a place to stay for three nights waiting out this rain system. We found a laundromat close by for only $3 a load. I went to look for some right angle brackets but did not find any place with them. I guess they don't frame homes with 2x4's here. They usually use concrete and rebar. We did find peanut butter in a warehouse type of store called Meschke Atacadista so that was a big victory. We had last seen crunchy peanut butter at the Lider in Punta Arenas, Chile and didn't get it because Dd wanted smooth. We found some old fashion peanut butter on the Carretera Austral and bought it in Cochrane but Dd didn't like it and I even sprinkled in a couple tablespoons of sugar in but it just sank to the bottom. Anyways finding peanut butter is pretty rare. We also bought some acai in the ice cream section and it was delicious. And the fresh baked goods had gluten free options which were tasty. We had a nice picnic in the RV sheltered from the rain.
We went to check out the parking near an Airbnb but was thwarted. The lots required payment but did not have anyone overnight and it was basically open. Although it pained us to say no, we basically drove to Penha where there was a motel with a gravel lot next door. We did wonder if we should book it anyways or wait until we arrived. We didn't wait. We should have. When we arrived there was a gate on track but the top track was too low for our air conditioner by an inch or so. Oh well. We parked outside the gate because no refund was available.
Kind of a busy day driving around looking for a place to stay with an RV. The malecon on Balneario Camboriu was nice to see. There was a lot of traffic leaving and it took an hour to get to Penha instead of 40 minutes.
