Colonia Carlos Pellegrini
We had a short drive today, less than an hour to drive the 17 miles to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, the gateway to the Ibera Wetlands. I dumped gray water and headed off on the washboarded road. We saw more capybara, caimen, and deer and fox. We took a short hike and saw capybara walk all around us with juvenile capybara. We even saw some swim in a pond. We had to pay to enter the national park $106 for the four of us. The town is all red dirt roads and lots of greenery and not too busy. We stopped at a grocery store to buy some milk and eggs and then went to the municipal campground where we could take a sunset boat ride for a couple hours. Camping was pricey at $48 for the four of us and the boat ride was $120 for the four of us. We had not paid for camping since Salta, which was during Ellie's birthday 9 weeks ago.
The campground filled up over the next hour because the boat trips departed at 4pm. There were showers and water faucets and electricity, not that we use it. I filled up water and dumped our cassette.
The boat trip was nice. We saw so many caimen and capybara and deer. There were so many birds. We even saw a pod of baby caimen.
The sunset was nice and we went back to the RV and I dumped the cassette and we started dinner. Tomorrow we will head back to Mercedes. The front end makes a loud creaking sound ever since the Carretera Austral and it is getting louder the more we drive on dusty roads. Hopefully we can get it looked at.
