Las Marias

We ended up changing parking spaces at 2am because another car showed up and parked next to us and thumped their music. We parked closer to downtown. I didn't fall back asleep until around 6am.
We went and picked up our laundry and by the time we swung by the car wash it was being used so we went back to the park to fill and dump and then headed off toward Posada, next to the Paraguay border. We passed flat fields with tall straight trees and capybaras, rheas, cows, and fox. There were a couple fires going on in the area. There were tall watch towers overlooking the groves of trees.
We stopped at Las Marias, the largest producer of yerba mate, the tea-like drink everywhere in Argentina. Christine had been drinking this since the first day in Argentina and we were told that mate was grown in this region. We watched a short movie about the plantation and then got to try a few different types of mate before they closed.
The sun was setting and we were headed north and passed a couple gas stations surrounded by red dirt and we decided to keep pushing on after the sunset another 40 minutes to Posada. We headed to the beach area and it was very welcoming with kids playing at playgrounds and restaurants. The kids played at a couple of the playgrounds. There was a drum team practicing close by so we headed to the far end of the beach at the municipal campground which was busy with RVs. The facilities were nice and we paid only $22 for the night. The kids played with other kids at the playground. The weather was nice. The freeway was close by but I think we might stay another night.
