Montevideo to Colonia del Sacramento
We had a surprisingly quiet night and it was not too cold. Ellie had a fever last night and had complained of a sore throat but was otherwise ok.
We went to the old town which is pretty run down and with sidewalks covered with dog poo. We found parking far away and walked to the Mercado de Puerto to see what it was like. It was like the mercado we visited with my parents in March, but smaller. It was just opening and fires still fresh. We walked around a bit but the poop dodging got old.
We went to find some propane. Since it was colder now we were using more propane. And there was a five day storm in the Andes between Mendoza and Santiago so we wanted to make sure we had enough propane. It took an hour to fill by gravity. The propane guys worked hard to get it to work. I tipped them $12.
It was a two hour drive to Colonia. It is a cute unesco town. We found a free spot at the soccer field with water and toilets. We stopped in town and walked around and bought a juice. We thought about taking a ferry tonight but decided against it. I didn't want the stress of not finding a safe campsite in the dark.
We went back to the soccer field and a soccer game was starting. Dd rose his scooter in the skate park.
I tried to book our ferry online but couldn't get the credit card payment to work. I ended up driving back to the port which was only a couple minutes away to pay in person. I spent two hours trying to do this online. We return to Argentina tomorrow.
