Parque del Plata to Montevideo

We headed out in the cold morning after dumping at the dump station to find some water. From there we continued to Montevideo an hour or so away. Montevideo boasts one of the longest continuous waterfront sidewalk around 14 miles long which we followed into the city. We had to do laundry after the kids played in the sand last night. Finding parking proved to be harder and we spent over an hour driving around looking for parking. Finally we found some and walked to a self serve laundromat and went to have some lunch. Unfortunately many places were open for dinner only. We ended up at a local parillada. The kids had some pizza and Christine had chickpea pizza and I had a burger. From there we went to find an urban parking spot for the night. We went to two spots on iOverlander and the sun was going down so I stopped at a playground for the kids to get some energy out. The free parking spots are manned by official or unofficial parking minders who work on tips to watch your car and expect a tip when you leave. One of them came out of nowhere when I was done with laundry and wanted a tip and unfortunately we didn't have any money. At the next parking space someone came up to me to tell me he would watch my car and I said it wasn't necessary and I didn't have any money and he said I might get a ticket. I saw him run around and accost several people when they went to leave.
After the sunset we headed back to a parking spot next to the Ibis hotel which was recommended by Romulus, the Brazilian we met in Florinopolis. There was an Italian RV parked there already. It was by a soccer field and a basketball court and playground so it seemed safe.
We had a late lunch so I skipped dinner. The kids had some ramen. We have not urban camped in capitals yet. The closest we camped was in Quito but we were above the city.
