Santiago day 1
We slept great and had a lazy morning and swam in the indoor heated pool and hot tub and used the sauna.
We headed out to a Chinese restaurant in downtown Santiago which was in the Chinatown neighborhood next to the main train station. There was a street market going on and it was hard to find parking close by so we walked from several blocks away. It was not a pretty neighborhood.
The restaurant was pretty good for dumplings and we had three orders and some string tofu salad and cucumber salad and beef noodle soup. It took almost an hour for the noodles. I am not sure why but I asked four times for it and they didn't know the reason for the delay.
We bought some stuff from Chinese grocery stores and then found some Chinese toys for super cheap. Laser pointer light for 75 cents. Domino's for $1.50. Clay for $1.
We drove to check out an Airbnb and a couple hotels we were considering and found some more food downtown to take home for dinner. They had kids menu for $8 but included boba tea, bao and dumplings. We also had onion pancakes and custard cake.
We went back to the hotel. It was a 25 min drive. There are a lot of underground highway routes in Santiago and it made travel super fast. The tunnels are long.
Back in the hotel Christine took the kids to the pool and I got to talk to my brother Kevin on the phone for a couple hours.
