Carretera Austral day 6 to Caleta Gonzalez

Rain rain all day. We headed to some thermal springs this morning and even changed into swimming wear but by the time we arrived it was two hours past low tide and the water was no longer hot. 

We drove a lot and made it to Chaitan, a town that had a volcano erupt right next to it and the water front was pushed out by the mudslide that resulted.

There were still a lot of dilapidated homes. I tried to fill up water but struck out. I did buy ferry tickets for the next day to finish our Carretera Austral trip.

We parked next to the ferry station and the let the kids play in the rain and Christine made dinner. A long day on the road.
